The rumours about a Google mobile phone (free calls in exchange for advertising via a Google MVNO, apparently) turned out to be baseless. Google folk are allowed to use a fifth of their contracted working hours for private projects, and it seems some engineers were thinking about an ultra-low cost handset for emerging markets. Blue-sky stuff, and not official at all.
