Chiltern Railways has become the first train company in the UK to sell mobile phone tickets to passengers.
The rail operator is working with YourRail, Cubic Transportation Systems Mobiqa, and ts.com on a three month pilot where passengers can purchase a £5 online Eday ticket. Passengers get a barcode sent as a text message; railway staff will be able to check the ‘mobile ticket’ with special scanners.
