Telecommunications company OneCom has made a key appointment to its board as it continues its drive for expansion and diversification.
The company, based in Whiteley, Hampshire, has appointed solicitor Stephen Hunter, formerly a Director of the Fareham-based bank Hampshire Trust Plc for more than 30 years, as its non-executive chairman.
Stephen’s brief will include reviewing OneCom’s corporate structures and business processes and making recommendations regarding corporate governance, strategy, policy and business diversification.
The appointment comes after a busy year for OneCom which has seen it grow to become the UK’s largest independent mobile phone provider.
Stephen is delighted to be asked to play a key role on OneCom’s board and is looking forward to using his experience to strengthen the business. He said: “I’ll be looking at every aspect of the business to help build on its well-established reputation and strengths and make it even more effective. This will include looking at what we do and how we do it, asking why we do it and seeing if there’s a better way.”
“I’ll be offering support and advice as mentor to the chief executive and the members of the board, looking at strategy and policy in the big picture whilst challenging them to find ways to make the currently superb product offering and service even better.”
Darren Ridge said “Our company is rapidly expanding and as it grows it is vital that we do so in a controlled manner to ensure that we maintain our focus on unrivaled customer service supporting first class products.”
