Aastra Appoints New Vice Presidents to Head Strategy and R&D

Business communications technology provider Aastra has announced the appointments of Pierre-Alexandre Fuhrmann and Paulo Francisco, as Joint Vice Presidents, Global Technology and Development. Fuhrmann is based in Aastra’s Paris office and Francisco in the Toronto headquarters.

Fuhrmann and Francisco’s key focus is driving innovation in Aastra’s Centres of Excellence (CoEs), located in North America and Europe. These strong in-house resources are responsible for developing market-leading products and solutions such as the Aastra 5000 where several CoEs combined their expertise to create this next-generation call control for the enterprise market. Aastra’s CoEs have strong expertise in open standards, call control, mobility, and applications for the SMB and Enterprise markets.

Tony Shen, Aastra’s President and co-CEO, comments: “Paulo and Pierre-Alexandre bring a wealth of experience, technical and creative expertise coupled with a valuable understanding of Aastra’s platforms and our customers’ requirements. Aastra has made a number of acquisitions and has invested significantly in research and development. Our focus will now be on integration and convergence strategies for all Aastra’s platforms and applications, and I am excited that Paulo and Pierre-Alexandre will lead this new initiative.”

Aastra say Fuhrmann and Francisco both have a strong track record in research and development. Fuhrmann was instrumental in driving the evolution of large enterprise IP innovation and integrated mobility, and Francisco led the introduction of SIP terminals and the open standards mandate.
