Adapt Selected to Provide 21st Century MPLS Network

Independent Virtual Network Operator (VNO), Adapt, is collaborating with IT services provider, Centrecore, to provide Kent Messenger Group (KM Group), Kent & Medway’s premier media group, with a MPLS IP VPN. The network, linking 20 sites, will enable the KM Group to deploy web, voice and radio over IP and improve reliability and efficiency of applications between sites. The £2 million contract is for three years.

Recognising the change in the publishing industry, which is increasingly moving online, KM Group made the decision to put web technology at the forefront of its business in order to exploit the new media market whilst improving operational efficiency.

As a part of News International, Centrecore brings over 20 years experience in providing technical expertise in the newspaper industry and will be delivering major upgrades to KM Group’s infrastructure. The first stage of the upgrade starts with the MPLS platform, provided through Adapt.

“Adapt’s multiple carrier relationships, ability to provide MPLS over xDSL, and competitive pricing were the key decision factors in collaboration on this project. It was clear Adapt ‘s flexibility, when compared to traditional network operators, provides KM Group with the most suitable and scalable network for its ever evolving requirements,” commented Lee O’Neill, Managing Director, Centrecore Ltd.

Adapt advises on the most suitable network and technology partners, delivering the best choice for customers depending on their unique requirements. Adapt’s VNO model enables all organisations, regardless of size, to benefit from enterprise level pricing and service levels.

“We are delighted that Centrecore has appointed Adapt to deploy the network upgrade for KM Group,” adds Peter Knight, CEO, Adapt. “The fact that Adapt was selected over asset based carriers to supply this network again further demonstrates the value, flexible structure and personally tailored communications packages, not to mention cost-effectiveness, that VNOs offer over network operators.”
