BBC Good Food app free until midnight

The BBC has launched the latest version of its BBC Good Food app, Good Food for Friends, for iPhone and iPod Touch. The app is free to download until midnight tonight (Friday 18 March).

Good Food for Friends is the latest in a line of mobile apps launched for the Good Food brand. The extending digital reach of the Good Food brand shows how the BBC is able to marry the functionality of smart phones with the expertise of the Good Food cookery team, providing a menu of tasty formats for fans of the brand.

Having launched under five years ago, the website now has 3.7 million unique users, trebling its browser users in two years, with 8,000 triple tested recipes we can repackage for apps.

The Good Food for Friends app for iPhone and iPod Touch, enables users to plan a menu and then invite friends to dinner. The app has 150 triple tested recipes, arranged into starters, mains and puddings, which means anyone can easily create a lunch or dinner menu.

There are also 30 drinks and canapé recipes, too. To get people started, the BBC has themed the recipes, for example: curry night; show-off suppers and family-friendly.

The clever twist is that it then enables the user to connect with friends on Facebook (through the app), or, simply email them the date, time and menu using your own email.

After midnight tonight, the app will be available to buy from the iTunes app store.
