EXFO brings multiservice to a new level, adding fibre channel and MPLS to its NetBlazer series

New NetBlazer capabilities bring more testing flexibility to technicians, in addition to reducing the number of instruments to carry in the field.

EXFO Inc. announced today the addition of fibre channel and multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) test capabilities to its popular NetBlazer multiservice testers. Housed in the powerful FTB-1 platform, NetBlazer series testers provide frontline technicians with fast, intuitive and ultra-portable test solutions.

Launched nine months ago, the NetBlazer series has quickly gained market acceptance. Namely, ten of the world’s 15 largest operators have selected the flagship FTB-880 NetBlazer Multiservice Tester for their network deployments. The new fibre channel function offers a best-in-class range of interfaces (1, 2, 4, 8, 10X). These added capabilities further enhance the NetBlazer series’ feature set, extending its reach to include storage area networks (SANs) for cloud-based applications, data centres and financial communities.

The new fibre channel capabilities can be enabled on existing field units via a simple on-site software upgrade—they do not require a factory return. This provides customers with the highest level of flexibility without disrupting their ongoing activities. Within seconds, the user can therefore perform more tests, more effectively, with the same unit.

“Since its launch nine months ago, the NetBlazer series has enjoyed fast-growing success with our worldwide customer base, and the FTB-880 model is quickly establishing itself as the multiservice testing reference,” said Étienne Gagnon, EXFO’s vice-president—wireline division and corporate marketing. “The new Fibre Channel and MPLS test capabilities widen the NetBlazer’s scope of applications, adding more power to this multiservice testing powerhouse, and more tools in frontline technicians’ toolboxes.”
