Speaking on his appointment John Thomson said, “I am delighted that the industry trade association has recognised the importance of the smaller businesses within the communications services industry and that the installer community now has a voice at the highest level within the Federation. Installers of mobile equipment in vehicles, whether it is mobile phones, radios or telemetry equipment, play a crucial role at the customer interface for the industry. Within FCS we maintain the installer’s code of practice and run the accreditation scheme for installer businesses. In the coming year we will be reflecting changes in the industry and product by updating the code and revitalising the scheme. We will stage the Installers’ convention, Comms Installer -08 in May as THE meeting place for this dynamic sector.”
Adrian Grilli, FCS chairman in welcoming John Thomson said, “As the competitive communications industry grows we recognise the great contribution made by the smaller companies in the field and welcome John Thomson on to the board to provide a voice for this essential community. John comes on to the board as Jim Short steps down after 6 years. Jim has been a tower of strength to the Federation and we wish him well for the future.”
