Daisy Group has appointed Neil Thompson (pictured) as group CFO and board member. This follows Steve Smith, former group CFO, moving into a new role within the business as corporate development director where he will work on strategy and acquisitions.

Thompson joins from Manchester Airport Group (MAG), where he was part of the executive team that trebled earnings over a seven-year period and created international, digital and property development arms. He also oversaw several acquisitions including MAG’s £1.5bn acquisition of London Stansted airport.

Prior to MAG, Thompson held various senior finance roles at companies including MAN Group and Alstom. He trained as a chartered accountant and spent seven years in financial practice specialising in corporate finance.

Matthew Riley, founder and chairman, Daisy Group, said, “We’re delighted that Neil is joining Daisy as we embark on the next stage of our growth story. Neil brings a wealth of experience across both listed and private funded businesses, driving strong growth and shareholder value. It’s an exciting time for the sector in an evolving technology market.”

Thompson added, “I’m delighted to be joining Matthew Riley, ARES, Oakley Capital, and everyone within the Daisy Group on its next phase of growth. It’s a dynamic sector with significant growth opportunities. I’m really looking forward to joining the team as we take Daisy to the next level.”
