NeoMedia upgrades NeoReader to enable scanning of vCard, meCard and Wi-Fi codes

NeoMedia Technologies, Inc., provider of global mobile barcode management solutions, today announced updates to its NeoReader® barcode-scanning application, as well as its Leitor Neo and Códigos Neo applications available for Latin American markets. The applications are now able to scan and process vCard 2.1, vCard 3.0 codes as well as meCard formats. In addition, users can now also scan and process Wi-Fi codes.

“With a vast number of people now exchanging business cards in the form of vCards and consumers increasingly making use of meCards to share their personal information, enabling their use for our customers was an important update for NeoReader,” said Laura Marriott, Chief Executive Officer of NeoMedia Technologies, Inc.

NeoReader bridges the gap between traditional and digital media as its code-scanning software allows mobile phone users to access specific web content with one click by scanning a 1D or 2D barcode. The number of unique NeoReader users grew 148 percent between the first quarter of 2011 and the first quarter of 2012 with a 138 percent growth in QR code scanning within the first three months of this year.
