Nimans’ NEC Boost

Distributor Nimans say their newly created NEC business unit received a major boost after resellers from across the country praised its first Dealer Days and the distributor reported a 26 per cent jump in sales of the manufacturer’s XN120 hybrid telephone system which is at heart of its channel proposition.

Around 30 resellers - the majority of whom were not previously selling NEC kit - attended the free events in Reading and Nimans’ Manchester headquarters. These covered a range of issues include a review of the SME market which the XN120 targets, protection of margins, VoIP and SIP applications plus an overview and live demonstration of the system and its applications.

John Power, director of Leicestershire-based BMS Digital Solutions was among many new NEC converts having sold three XN120s in the past month, two off the back of Nimans’ catalogue and a third sale achieved immediately following a demo by NEC Distribution Channel Manager, Nick Thompson, who also co-hosted the Dealer Days. “I needed to provide a forward thinking future- proofed system which is what the XN120 is,” commented Mr. Power. “With analogue, ISDN and VoIP it’s the obvious choice and it’s very competitive in the SME market. I expect to sell a further two systems within the next month on the basis of my recent experience.” Other dealers praised the system for being feature rich, easy to set up, reliable, cost-effective, and remarked its price and reliability make it ideal for the SME market.

Nick Thompson believes that NEC is now having a real market impact. “NEC is starting to shake up the entry level market with the introduction of the XN120 making it much more competitive. We’ve had an excellent response from dealers who like the fact that we’re an engineering rather than sales based company and that we’re price driven but don’t compromise on quality or functionality.”

Nimans launched its dedicated NEC business unit in February having previously sold the XN120 through its non-vendor aligned Dealer Sales arm. The company believes that a well resourced and unit focused on NEC will enable it to both grow XN120 sales and offer additional NEC products, whilst improving service and technical support. Early indications suggest that it is succeeding with a 26 per cent increase in NEC sales achieved in April.
