White iPhone 4 retailers around the country dropped prices by up to £102.01 within two months of the products’ release, according to data from over 850 UK electronics retailers selling through the expert IT and electronics marketplace skinflint.co.uk. Although originally scheduled for release alongside the Black iPhone 4 models in June 2010, eager fans of Apple’s White products had to wait until April 2011 to get their hands on their preferred colour of iPhone 4.
skinflint.co.uk’s Price History function data shows that on the day of the release of the new White models, skinflint.co.uk retailers cut their prices of the SIM-free 32GB Black iPhone 4 by up to £99.99. Over the last two months skinflint.co.uk shoppers saw prices of SIM-free 32GB models of the White iPhone 4 drop by as much as £102.01 from the launch price of £612.
Prices for the SIM-free 16GB White iPhone 4 have been as low as £439.98 on the site, while the same model in Black has reached as low as £438.99, enabling shoppers using skinflint.co.uk’s Price Alerts function to achieve significant price reductions from the 16GB models’ original price of £510.
David Boston, UK Country Manager for skinflint.co.uk, said: “skinflint.co.uk’s Price History function charts a product’s lowest available price over a defined period. It shows that retailers we work with kept the price of the Black iPhone 4 32GB fairly consistently around the £580 mark for quite some time – £20 down from its launch price. In contrast, just two months after the UK launch of the White iPhone 4, retailers on skinflint.co.uk slashed prices on those products by up to a sixth.
“The in-depth price data on skinflint.co.uk shows that Apple fans can often get their hands on the treasured new White iPhone 4 for far cheaper than on many other sites. Although many Apple enthusiasts will rush to purchase new products as soon as they’re available, savvy shoppers on skinflint.co.uk are using the site’s Price Alert functions to receive notifications when products like iPhone 4 handsets fall to their preferred price point, helping them to get their chosen products at the best available price at a time that’s right for them. For example, skinflint.co.uk retailers reduced prices for the SIM-free 32GB iPhone 4 Black by almost £100 the day after the release of the White models, the lowest price on the site to date.”
