Sarian Gears Up for Major Channel Push

Mission-critical communications specialist Sarian Systems today announced the appointment of two business development managers, as part of a major drive to sign up new business partners throughout the UK and Europe.

Julie Williams, UK and Ireland business development manager, will be looking to bolster the company's leading position in the UK retail sector, as well as exploiting new market opportunities for Sarian's latest wired and wireless products, including the recently launched DR6000 series router. Specifically, Williams will look to recruit new business partners in the security and surveillance, telemetry and transport sectors, as well as developing new partnerships with internet service providers, while ensuring that all Sarian partners are able to access same high level of technical and sales support.

Williams, who has ten years experience in the UK channel, was formerly business development manager at Network Partners, prior to the company's acquisition by Matrix Communications, where she was responsible for helping systems integrators move into managed service provision. Before this, she held positions at XTML and Cable & Wireless.

"My role will be to show business partners in our target markets how to integrate Sarian's technology effectively into their existing offerings, and we'll be looking to recruit new partners in each area that share our ambitions and can demonstrate suitable expertise and business models," said Williams. "While the mobile data market is still in its infancy, as more companies recognise the advantages of using mobile networks for critical data transmission, the opportunities will be massive, and Sarian already has the technology and expertise to take full advantage of them."

Patrick Robinson, European business development manager, will be responsible for identifying new vertical markets throughout Europe, placing particular emphasis on the Scandinavian and Eastern European markets, recruiting distributors and providing training and support for the new partners. Once distributors have received Sarian technical certification, they will be able to provide their existing reseller bases with the full range of Sarian products. Robinson is also looking to recruit sales managers for each individual territory, to further support partner outreach.

Robinson joins Sarian from Novatel Wireless, where he spent three years working as business development manager for EMEA, supporting the company's 3G laptop and device solutions. During this time, he worked in partnership with Sarian to develop the HR4110 - the world's first router to be compatible with HSDPA as well as existing mobile networks. Prior to this, Robinson held channel roles at Hugh Symons and Wireless Data Services.

"It's an exciting time to be joining Sarian - the company has long been at the cutting edge of routing technology and we're seeing huge market demand across Europe as both broadband and HSPDA uptake continues to rise," said Robinson. "The challenge is going to be ensuring that we capitalise fully on these opportunities and grow Sarian's business in a structured manner, so that business partners are able to receive the optimum level of support."
