Following an intensive application process, TalkTalk has been awarded CAS(T) and ISO 27001 certification today, making its corporate arm – TalkTalk Business – the provider of the UK’s largest certified business-grade Next Generation Network (NGN.)
The certification – issued to those who meet the security guidelines stipulated by the CESG: the government’s Information Assurance authority – means that TalkTalk Business’ Wholesale Ethernet, Wholesale ADSL and EFM offerings are now eligible for procurement by public sector organisations who wish to purchase a service slice on their strategic Public Sector Network.
As a result, TalkTalk Business is now able to bid for major contacts from central government, local councils, education authorities – including schools & colleges – and health care trusts, in a move that will significantly strengthen its position since the Public Sector Network scheme was implemented.
On the award, Charles Bligh, the provider’s managing director, said: “Optimising security for all our users is of paramount importance. However, we’re especially aware of the requirements in the public sector and the information handled by the Public Services Network deserves the utmost protection.
“The CAS(T)/ISO 27001 certification is a security standard designed to give an indication of a level of confidentiality, integrity and availability for networks and services which in turn help ensure that information remains secure. We’re proud to be able to provide that service and reassurance.”
