This week saw Nokia finally launch its delayed gaming service N-Gage, along with a new social networking service 'Share on Ovi' following the acquisition of Twango.
Ovi, which in Finnish means “door”, was initially launched last year as the generic brand name of Nokia’s new Internet services enabling consumers to easily access their existing social network, communities and content, as well as acting as a gateway to Nokia services.
Nokia planned to open the N-Gage gaming platform in November last year, but the launch was postponed due to software glitches. In December, Nokia was forced again to push back the launch.
N-Gage First Access allows Nokia N81 owners to download the pre-release version of the N-Gage application, try and buy N-Gage games, and provide feedback on the experience.
The new 'Share on Ovi' has been launched after the acquisition of Twango last year.
"we are now part of Nokia’s new service brand, “Ovi”. As of Today, the Twango brand will be a fond memory. We are now Share on Ovi." said the Twango site.
"We’ve also spent a lot of time building software that allows Nokia devices to connect to the service. “Share Online” is a cool application for your Nokia mobile device that allows you to capture photos and videos and upload them to the service directly! It also allows you to view feeds of media from your contacts and people that are sharing from you, so you can keep in touch with your friends better than ever."
