VMO2 Business and Proximity team up on dark fibre

Proximity Data Centres has announced Virgin Media O2 Business will deliver fibre connectivity services across its data centres.

Virgin Media Business Wholesale and Proximity Data Centres are now working together to deliver network services including diverse dark fibre and optical high-capacity services up to 100 GB to customers across Proximity’s portfolio of regional colocation data centres.

Proximity’s high capacity, scalable and resilient network provides enterprise businesses, cloud and content providers with reduced latency and data transit costs, and enhanced operational efficiency.

John Hall, managing director, colocation, Proximity Data Centres, explained, “We are extremely pleased a major player such as Virgin Media Business Wholesale has committed to extending its dark fibre presence across our rapidly growing edge colocation portfolio.

“This is a great example of best of breed network service and data centre providers working together to bring enhanced high-speed low latency services to UK businesses.”

Proximity has nine data centre sites open, with 20 expected to be available within the next 12 to 18 months. Once complete, Proximity will be able to provide nationwide coverage, with the company’s footprint reaching 95 per cent of the UK population.
