Who will supply VoNGA for resellers and SPs? asks FCS

The independent service providers and resellers that form the established UK telecoms channel have said in a recent FCS survey that it is essential to participate in the fibre world to continue to deliver to their customers the services that they need.

Jacqui Brookes, FCS CEO says, “Over 3 million WLR lines are delivered by independent SPs and resellers. Other independent surveys among SME customers have demonstrated how much smaller telecoms suppliers are valued. But in the fibre world the channel is asking what and where is the Voice over Next Generation Access product for these smaller service providers?

“87% of SME customers surveyed recently have said that it is important to have continuing access to traditional voice services for their business; at the same time customers have said they value the responsiveness, personalised service, flexibility and understanding of their needs that the independent channel provides. How can this important customer, service and supplier relationship be maintained?

”We ask Ofcom and telecoms operators to take account of the reseller requirements when developing future NGA delivery policy.”

The debate on the future of voice service delivery in the fibre world will be conducted at the FCS Comms Provider 10 event on 12 October in London with input from speakers from Ofcom, BT and the telecoms channel.
